Polly “A really lovely cottage (lodge) right next to a large duckpond with trickling water sounds.”
We even saw a kingfisher! The lodge has everything needed, was beautifully clean and comfortable. I would be wary about the stairs up to the second bedroom for any age and think this is probably more suited for two. A lovely area with lots to do within an easy distance. Loved Curbar and Barlow Edges for example..10 minutes away. Dean and Angela friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend.

Jonathan “What a great place to stay, perfectly placed for visiting everything the Peak District has to offer.”
We spent our days walking and exploring and the evenings relaxing in the Lodge, a real homely feeling with all the mod cons. The location is very quiet, and seeing the horses pass by every day was a bonus. We'd highly recommend Heron Lodge and hope to visit again in the future.

Tara “Dean & Angela were very friendly & welcoming.”
The property was lovely. It was clean, tidy and we found it very peaceful & relaxing. We enjoyed our time staying at Heron Lodge and would recommend it to others wanting to stay in that area.
- Tara, August 2023Suzanne “Lovely little lodge in a great spot.”
Nice and quiet. Bathroom and kitchen is lovely. The stairs to upper bedroom are very steep though so wouldnt recommend if you have little kids. This room also got quite warm by the evening so worth keeping windows open before bedtime. The owners are great, really helpful and would always stop for a chat when putting the horses on the field. Would definitely go again
- Suzanne, August 2023Daniel “Heron lodge is an amazing stay!”
Close to local shops and great dog walking spots, the location even has an enclosed dog exercise paddock you can use. We were provided with a lovely welcome basket and all instructions for the lodge provided. Dean and Angela met us on arrival, had a chat with us and met the dogs which I though was great! The beds and rooms were comfortable and clean and the bathroom is an impressive size too and there is plenty of space to relax in the open plan kitchen living room with cosy blankets and throws provided, if you do get colder (not that we did!) there is underfloor heating and a log burner. We would come back to Heron Lodge in a heart beat!
- Daniel, July 2023David “My partner, our two dogs and myself thoroughly enjoyed our 4 day stay.”
Nothing was too much trouble for Dean and his family. The lodge was immaculate and had everything you need for self catering and quality of the facilities excellent. If you like peace and tranquility this the perfect place.
- David, July 2023Maggie “Down a long lane, secluded and peaceful opposite the duck pond - we have had a great stay here.”
Comfortable bed, great shower, everything we needed. The owners were really welcoming and helpful to us and our dog. Would highly recommend.

About the location
DRONFIELD
Chesterfield 6 miles; Sheffield 7 miles.
Dronfield is a Derbyshire market town with a history dating back to before the 1086 Domesday Book, and has a number of 12th-century buildings which are still in existence. The town has a wide range of shops, pubs, restaurants and also a sports centre, and is surrounded by wonderful Peak District countryside where the walks are asking to be explored. Dronfield is situated between the Peak District National Park and the city of Sheffield while close by is the historic town of Chesterfield which is most notable for its famous crooked spire of St Mary and All Saints Church. The impressive Damflask, Agden, Dale Dike and Ladybower dams make for an interesting afternoon's ramble, while the attractive village of Hathersage (thought to be the inspiration for Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre) is also within easy reach and is home to a selection of shops, pubs and inviting eateries, plus an outdoor lido. There are many stately homes to visit including Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Hardwick Hall, whilst the historic and ever popular town of Bakewell and the rest of the Peak District, are within a short drive.
