    “Absolutely beautiful cabin.”

The area was perfect. Secluded, quiet and peaceful. However, shops were just a 10 minute drive away. The cabin and surrounding woods were spotless. As was the hot tub. Plenty of forest walks for the dog, and lots of wildlife to see from the cabin window. We particularly liked watching the squirrels. David & Helen were just a text or phone call away if we needed anything. We loved our time at Moorhen Lodge, and are now home feeling refreshed and well rested. We would definitely recommend a ...

About the location

NORTH KESSOCK AND KILMUIR

Arpafeelie 3 miles; Kilmuir 4.1 miles; Inverness 5.5 miles.

North Kessock is the site of an ancient ferry route between Inverness and the Black Isle. This ferry ran, with various changes and modernisations, for 700 years, up until 1982, when the Kessock Bridge was opened. The main village consists of a long line of buildings along the shore, with a steep wooded hillside immediately behind them. The rest of the Kessock community is scattered over the hillside and through the woods, and has expanded a great deal in recent years. The nearby Beauly Firth is teeming with wildlife. Bottlenosed Dolphins, Redshank, Oystercatcher, Ringed Plover, Dunlin, Curlew and Shelduck and the Common Seal can all be seen there. In North Kessock, a small marine Wildlife Research Base monitors dolphins and seals through sightings as well as underwater microphones. Pop in and have a listen!
