    “Lovely lodge with excellent views.”

We will rebook for sure, but have the following suggestions to make it even better. Provide a couple of coffee tables alongside the settees as thereā€™s no place to put cups while seated. (We used the kitchen dustbin). Make the garden surrounding the property dog secure. (All 4 gates allow small dogs to enter and escape.) A simpler solution would be to put a gate on the stairs leading up to the lodge. This would allow dog owners to let their dogs out on the verandah with no risk of escape. As it ...

A simpler solution would be to put a gate on the stairs leading up to the lodge. This would allow dog owners to let their dogs out on the verandah with no risk of escape. As it is, we had to make a barricade with garden chairs to prevent this from happening. Consider satellite internet (Starlink?) as the current speed is next to useless. Provide J Clothes/kitchen rolls to wipe down work surfaces. We couldnā€™t get the oven to work and there didnā€™t appear to be any instructions. (The hob worked OK). Provide more takeaway menus if possible. The above are not criticisms, just suggestions. Best regards Andrew Barrett

Hi Andrew, Thanks for you feedback and suggestions for improvement which I will be implementing. 1. Iā€™ll add more metal netting to the gates & see if a gate can be added onto of stairs. Yes, we do need side tables for both ends of both sofas. 2. Internet, yes itā€™s poor but local reports of the available ā€˜by airā€™ systems are ā€˜iffyā€™ if we canā€™t see the hills, the signal wonā€™t get thru - was the same with Sky in the main house which we cancelled! I have had one of my clever daughters chase down a problem with the BT repeater outside the lodge and this has helped, but weā€™re never going to get cable speeds. 3. The oven, I wish you had mentioned this as it would have been a quick fix - I will copy the manual and put it in the Lodge. 4. Yes, more cleaning items. 5. Iā€™ll make a list of the local take-away places with phone, sat nav and internet links. Once again, thank you for being so positive in this welcome feedback. Warm regards, Keith. Property Owner

About the location

STOKESLEY

Great Ayton 3 miles; Saltburn-by-theā€“Sea 14 miles.

Stokesley is an attractive, elegant, historic market town which was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, with many interesting Georgian and Victorian buildings. The River Leven flows through the town and is crossed by the ancient Pack Horse Bridge. Levenside provides visitors with a peaceful riverside walk, well planted with trees, as a contrast to the bustle of the High Street. The town has a distinguished wide cobbled main street lined with Georgian and Regency buildings. It is well served with shops, banks, public houses and restaurants and the weekly Friday markets are held on the main square. Just off the market square is the Church of St Peter & St Paul which has woodwork carved by the Mouseman of Kilburn. Surrounded by the Cleveland Hills and close to the northern edge of the North York Moors, Stokesley provides an ideal base from which to explore the Yorkshire Dales, the heather clad North Yorkshire Moors and the pretty market towns of Great Ayton, Northallerton and Thirsk. The seaside spa resort of Saltburn is 30 mins drive away whilst Whitby, Runswick Bay and Robin Hoods Bay are within easy reach.
