“This was our second stay, at the same lodge, our first being 5 years ago.”

The lodge has everything you could possibly need for a 7 night stay. The space was perfect for 2 adults and 2 dogs, however we did sadly have some issues along our stay. Pros- Plenty of space. Excellent kitchen which is well equipped and has plenty of storage. Bathroom and shower is amazing, and always my favourite part of the stay! The grounds are lovely, and through the day is peaceful and calm with the wildlife roaming free. Cons- The sofa is horrendous! A small 2 seater which ...

A small 2 seater which is low and leans back. Extremely uncomfortable and sadly was no better 5 years ago. The mattress is also awful! There was a visable 'lump' running down the centre of the bed and then the outer parts are badly worn. The mattress is far too soft and has no support. The bed itself also feels smaller than a standard double. This might just be due to the poor mattress, but we struggled to get comfortable. As a person with disabilities, these 2 things are so important to a comfortable stay. The dining room was a total waste of space and if this had been a single room would have been much more useful. The evening events at the main hall.... oh dear me!!! This was never an issue 5 years ago, but now actually means we won't return. The noise generated in the evenings/nights was horrendous. The music is loud enough to hear each song until midnight and then grown adults screaming, laughing and generally being loud went on longer. Of course I appreciate that they are enjoying an event, but this should be shared on the booking detail. Unfortunately, while the location and space is perfect for us, the cons have increased since our last stay but hopefully the furniture issues at least can be resolved and we could look at returning.

Thank you for your review - did you contact anyone (Sykes or number in Welcome pack) during your stay? None of this years previous guests didnt mention any of the issues you raised. The hotel and dining room were both there 5 years ago so maybe a lodge on the other side of the park without the extra room would have been more suitable for you. We will of course review the fittings during our yearly review. Property Owner
