“Just simply put, a wonderful holiday home in a stunning location with 180 degree views out to sea, and all the way across to Snowdonia, highlight was watching the dolphins from our balcony.”

We found this holiday site during lockdown and have continued to visit once or twice a year. This property is by far the best situated and most luxurious, it has a high spec and everything is there that you'd ever want, from an Alexa with a Bose system, a telescope and binoculars, lots of board games, jigsaws, books etc to keep all ages occupied. We found this holiday site during lockdown and have continued to visit once or twice a year. This property is by far the best situated and most luxurious, it has a high spec and everything is there that you'd ever want, from an Alexa with a Bose system, a telescope and binoculars, lots of board games, jigsaws, books etc to keep all ages occupied. Large main bedroom with ensuite and wonderful dressing table area to pamper yourself. Large open plan living area with bi-fold doors to make the most of bringing the outside in. Very private, calm and relaxing. Large and long sandy beach just behind the property which is always deserted. The owner was responsive and kind especially when I thought I wasn't going to be able to make it due to a family illness. Our new favourite place to recharge and relax, we will be back !

“We loved our stay thank you!”

A really lovely holiday lodge, far nicer than the pictures suggested especially the decking area on a sunny day! A lovely welcome hamper, plenty of essential like dishwasher tablets, foil, cleaning cloths and products which you don’t often get in other properties. I was very pleased with how clean the property was when we arrived. We loved the proximity to the beach and the site was lovely, we made use of the pool and play areas too which was a bonus. Great views from the balcony, would have been nice to see the view when seated outside but the hedge restricts this but I’m assuming it’s the height it is to protect from wind etc. we were there in storm Lilian and I’ve never experienced winds like it!! Sykes should consider amending the check in time from 5pm to earlier, I know this was introduced in Covid times but it’s unnecessary now and really does mean you miss an entire day of your holiday. We’ve recommended this property to friends and family already - thanks again!

“We had a superb week at Carreg View.”

The weather was fantastic which really helped. Unlike the previous reviewer, we did manage to open the bifold door, but a spray of lubricant definately wouldn't go amiss. We enjoyed the lodge and would stay again. The site is kept in pristine condition. The only slight gripe is the 5pm check in time.In general check ins are getting later and later, and not sure what the justification is now Covid and ' extra'cleaning was put in place. Much of the day is over by then. We see that at the moment next year appears unavailable, will this change?

“We’ve just returned home after a lovely and relaxing 4 night stay here.”

It’s such a beautiful location and a lovely spacious lodge, it was immaculately clean and tidy and the beds were very comfortable. The views were absolutely stunning and to be quite honest we didn’t want to leave. There was even surprise welcome gifts when we arrived which were gratefully received, we thoroughly enjoyed the treats thank you. It’s a great location for visiting the nearby town of Abersoch which has stunning beaches and lovely restaurants. We ate at the Potted Lobster one night in Abersoch and the service, food everything was perfect. We were a bit disappointed that the kitchen was closed all week on the site as it would have been convenient for a spot of lunch or dinner. This may have been because the site was quiet due to it not quite being school holidays. Luckily though there are plenty of places to pick up a takeaway in Pwhelli instead. We visited Caernarfon one day which is only 30 mins away and is such a great historic place with its amazing castle. The owners have really thought of everything, it was the best holiday rental that we’ve ever stayed in. We are hoping to book again as we are already missing the stunning views. Just a little note: the only thing we’d add is if there could be more bins, there was only one in the kitchen and one in the ensuite. Maybe if there could be one in the main bathroom?

“The property was lovely and had supplied everything you could need.”

However, the bifold foors didn't open (either over them) which was disappointing as it was a lovely day and meant the lodge felt quite stuffy. Also the view was lovely standing up but you couldn't see it sitting down outside due to the hedge. I appreciate the hedge can't be cut by the owners of the lodge but knowing this they should have bought furniture that was higher off the ground. Overall, the lodge was clean and comfortable and OK for a short weekend break but sadly we won't be returning.

“Lovely Stay We had an amazing stay at Carreg View.”

Our fourth visit to Gimblet Rock, but the first time in this amazing lodge. The Lodge is so nice, spacious, and it was very clean. I'd taken some cleaning essentials with me, however everything was provided for our stay. They had even left a welcome hamper. The beds were so comfy and towels so fluffy and soft. The pictures really don't do that incredible view justice, it was far better than we expected. Yes the view whilst sitting outside is obstructed by a hedge (not the owners fault), however this was certainly not an issue for us. The weather was not great when we were there in July, but we were still able to sit inside and see the incredible views from the sofa. Bad weather also didn't spoil our holiday as we used the pool and sauna. The only negative was the check-in time, 5pm is so late and most of your day has gone, especially by the time you've unloaded your car and unpacked. Were really hoping to stay again next year.

“The hedge to front of the property blocked the view.”

Spent all week looking at a hedge. The tap in the kitchen needs fixing dripping and comes on when shower or other taps are turned on. Greasy hand marks over cupboards when arrived had to clean. None of the photographs are of what was advertised on the advert. Table outside is low cushions not waterproof. Carpet in livingroom is tread bare. Will not be returning and false advertising

Thank you for your feedback. Firstly we are disappointed that you chose not to contact us during your stay in order to address your concerns. We want all of our guests to have a great stay and feel we could have provided solutions and answered your queries with a bit of communication. The hedge is the boundary for the site and has a fence within it, the site manages the height. This is clearly shown in our photos. The outdoor furniture has been replaced with an improved set, the cushions are showerproof, not waterproof as I think most are. They are kept in an easily accessible storage box for this reason. The lodge was painted throughout and new curtains and beds at the beginning of the season, Unfortunately, the photos have not been updated by Menai/Sykes to reflect this but as you admitted yourself it is an improvement. Your comments regarding the carpet have been taken on board and this will be replaced at the end of the season. We thank you for your feedback. Property Owner

“The property is tired and in need of some work.”

One set of Bi fold doors unable to open which the owner must aware of as there is a sign on the door not to open. This was disappointing and should be repaired, not just left. Carpets threadbare in places. Corner suite in lounge area very tired. Skirting boards, light fittings etc in need of a good clean. Decking Area really in need of maintenance. Hedges left to grow too tall obscuring the fabulous view. We raise these points as this property isnt a cheap rental.

The set of locked bi-fold doors is not broken but due to furniture positioning, we choose to keep this locked. The other large set of bi-fold doors we believe gives more than adequate access onto the decking area. “We have just returned from after a week’s stay at Carreg View we really enjoyed our time there.”

The site was quiet and well maintained, we did not use any of the site facilities so unable to comment on them. The lodge has a great elevated position on site right next to the rock with great views to the coastline, the lodge itself was comfortable we ate out so did not use the kitchen frailties other than the kettle. The outside furniture is different to that shown in the photographs it was comfy though, the views from this place are just great, we had good weather all week which really helps, the lodge does need some TLC, painting and new carpet and a gas BBQ would be great for many visitors. The Wi-Fi dropped out twice during our visit both times being on a Friday? it was rectified the next day though. We would return to Carreg View as we really did enjoy the experience.

Even though it was too cold to sit out there are great views from the living room and we watched boats in the bay. The property was warm, comfortable and had everything we needed. The welcome pack of treats was much appreciated and we would enjoy them with a warm drink after a day out. We would definitely book again.

Fantastic views,We received a lovely welcome basket, with quality products, lovely modern quality solid furniture my dad loved the little bird on the TV cabinet and my mum especially loved the China cups, we wanted to buy some but we couldn't find any :( the only negatives I can say would be there was a lot of dust on TV cabinet, and between the sofas on carpet , my parents struggled with the decking when wet, it was very slippy, all in all this would not deter me and my family from choosing this property again, so a big thank you from myself and my family for renting your property enabling us to make lovely memories. X

The chalet is in a lovely spot at the top of the park with amazing views. Could even see Snowdon on clear days! It was comfortable and clean and right on the beach pretty much. We didn’t really need to go anywhere else. We had a small hiccup with the boiler but our hosts had it sorted by the next morning so our stay wasn’t disrupted (thanks guys!) Only thing I would say is the mattress’s in the twin bedrooms need updating but apart from that, our stay was perfect. We’d highly recommend booking here, 5 stars!

“We really enjoyed the holiday house, it was lovely and clean and well equipped.”

The master bed was really comfortable and the dressing area was an added bonus. Our only small niggle was that the mattresses on the beds in the smaller of the 2 single rooms were uncomfortable, my son had to use the spare duvet as a mattress topper as he could feel the springs from the mattress. Other than that we have had a super stay, helped no doubt by the amazing weather. The position of the lodge is amazing, with super views of the sea and the site lovely and peaceful.

The Lodge was very spacious, clean and well equipped. Great elevated position with lovely sea & mountain views and close to South Beach. Very good facilities on site with the Swimming Pool, Shop, Bar and Restaurant, with lovely food at a reasonable price. Nice walk into Pwllheli. “THE POSITIVES - We loved the location of the lodge, being right by the sea and the accommodation provided us with everything we needed during our stay.”

The weather was good during the week so we were able to enjoy the excellent decking space and comfortable outdoor furniture. THE NEGATIVES - The cleanliness of the place was extremely poor. We arrived to find bits of food on the floor of the living area and crumbs on the sofa. The dust on the top of the top of the tv was so thick it obviously hadn’t been wiped for months. There were cobwebs that were dusty so had been around for a long time. The floors of the bathroom and shower room were very dirty and there was a used wrapper from previous guests (for some washing item) ripped open and still on the floor of the bathroom. All such a big disappointment when you arrive at your holiday destination!

The holiday was just what we needed. Very peaceful and relaxing , the perfect spot on the site next to the ROCK and Sandy beach, and to top it off the perfect weather. (Only tiny fault was the disturbance of work next to us on removing a lodge which we were not informed of) but understand these things have to happen.
