“We were looking forward to having a break away from it all in complete privacy having seen the photographs and checking on the fencing situation as we have a dog who is over- friendly.”
When we arrived Keith asked a lady by the farm type buildings and machinery where we might find Poppy. She did not engage in any welcoming conversation just told us it was the second one along. The huts are attractive but the view from the back window was awful and a tractor with some sort of scraper was going backwards and forwards scraping rainwater from the ground for quite some time. The photographs are also very misleading, we realised they must have been taken with a fish-eye lense as the hut and the garden area were very much smaller and the other huts much closer than we thought.
There was a ‘Guests information’ booklet but this did not give any information about how to use the shower, the heating, the hob or the tv.
A Guest book was provided for guests to write their feedback but I found it a little suspicious, considering the above that it was a loose leaf book, with only glowing reviews.
Although it was thoughtful to provide a small bottle of milk and coffee, tea and sugar, it would be a good idea to provide condiments and cooking/olive oil too.
We enjoyed our break due to the places we visited and the views of the hills and sheep but the experience could have been so much better with some friendliness and thoughtfulness from the hosts.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a response. We are not sure who you spoke to upon arrival, it may have possibly been a cleaner and we can only apologise that you weren't made to feel more welcome. We were sweeping the road behind the property at approx. 5pm for half an hour. We're sorry that this happened to coincide with your arrival here with us. With regards to the farm type noises, the property is situated next to farmland and countryside so this cannot be avoided. The photos on the Sykes site aren't taken with any special lenses, and though the shepherds hut is compact we feel it is accurately represented, as is the garden which is a good size and great for pets. For clarity, the guest information pack does come with instructions and manuals, and we would have been more than happy to help if you'd have let us know during your stay that you couldn't find it. We are happy to hear that you had a good holiday and enjoyed the welcome pack.
