The lodge is in a fantastic location and the views are superb and we love being on the Marina. The park is very family friendly and has great facilities including a lovely restaurant.
When we arrived at the lodge we were greeted with a lovely welcome bag of treats, this was a nice addition , The lodge is comfortable and has a large decking area to enjoy the views. Unfortunately inside of the lodge is very tired and needs updating, I reported a list of issues last year and it was similar if not worse this year. It’s nothing major but massively let’s this lodge down, the carpets are dirty and stained as well as the sofa - this was the same as last year. Some of the blinds are broken and discoloured, the kitchen cupboards are coming away around the cooker and the kitchen cupboard doors are different shades after some being replaced . Majority of the curtain hooks were falling out of the wall. Chair covers have been added to cover the old dinning chairs but the covers kept coming off when sitting on them.
The sofa and chair are electric recliners, we had to switch them off at the wall to avoid our children being hurt.
A coffee machine would be a lovely addition to the kitchen maybe a Tassimo or something similar.
The decking and outdoor furniture is tired and could with painting and tidying up.
Overall we had a lovely holiday, as we did last year, the location and space is what attracts us to this lodge. We have already booked the Waterbird for next year but unsure if we will return following year if the lodge is still the same condition, we don’t feel we are getting value for money or that luxury feel. The prices for this lodge have increased massively over the past two years, but I can’t see any improvements to this lodge. As a loyal returning customer of Lake District lodges and in particular the Waterbird, we have previously received 10% off our booking, but due to the company merging this has now been stopped, a new loyalty scheme has been introduced but I’m not impressed with it.

Nothing your comments, the owner would like to advise work is being carried out on the lodge from October when we move into the quieter months. Due to lockdown and then back to back bookings, we are limited on how much work can be carried out.
