“Great facility to get away for a few days.”

Maintenance: Only thing I would suggest sorting out is adding some clear or white silicone sealant to the back of the sink to prevent water damage to the back of the cupboard. Suggestion: One additional toilet roll might be worth adding in the storage cupboard especially as Sunday was a "no go" day with the high winds and rain plus that unexpected "time of month". Travel: There were no shops nearby to get those essential supplies baring in mind we did not have transport. It took an hour and fifty minutes to walk to the BP station on A69, the first day, and one hour to Hayton village on our way home where there may have been some essentials on offer. It was closed on the Monday so we didnt find out. By car, a doddle so don't be put off. For information: the route to Hayton takes you to the A69 and a bus stop to get to Brampton or Carlisle via the 635 bus. This is closer than to the BP garage where the Spar is. Hot tub a must. With dressing gowns and slippers provided, an evening outside is even more relaxing. Unless you have transport, this holiday is for the keen walker. We related to both. Owners were exceptionally helpful and provided some excellent help and advice. Thank you Claire. I rarely return to places as I love travelling but I would return here. It is slightly on the pricey side but with the place to yourself in the middle of nowhere it's worth it. Overall a very cosy place with great outlook. Well equipped for such a small space but used effectively there is plenty of space.

About the location

BRAMPTON, CUMBRIA

Carlisle 10 miles.

The market town of Brampton is the ideal base for exploring Hadrian’s Wall. The town boasts a rich and colourful history going back to the Roman occupation, Border reivers from Scotland and the Jacobite uprisings, plus bonnie Prince Charlie established his headquarters in one of the old buildings in Brampton. In the centre of the town is Moot Hall, which was built in 1817, and now houses the Tourist Information Centre, and there is a large motte to the east of the town, which is 135 feet high and has the statue of the 7th Earl of Carlisle on it. A few miles outside Brampton is Talkin Tarn Country Park. It covers 120 acres of farmland and woodland, 65 of which make up the Tarn, a 10,000 year old glacial lake, fed by underwater springs. Two miles away is Gelt Woods, which is an ancient woodland and RSPB nature reserve and has the River Gelt running through it. Brampton is a wonderful base for exploring this historic and scenic area.
