Cowes 4 miles; Newport 5.5 miles.
Set next to a coastal path in the Thorness Bay Holiday Park on the Isle of Wight is this beautifully presented, privately owned holiday home, Vendee Lodge.
Stunning views from the living area and located on the outskirts of the park that offers more privacy but near enough to walk to the main facilities.
Perfect for friends or a family, the lodge is home to plenty of home comforts such as a dishwasher, washer/dryer and Bluetooth ceiling speakers so you can listen to your own music via your mobile phone.
Other conveniences include off-road parking and on-site facilities.
On arrival, step into the open-plan living space to find all you need for a self-catered stay; cook up a storm in the kitchen, dine with your loved ones and plan your next day of adventure at the table for four, then relax on the sofa to unwind for the evening.
When sleep calls, a double with a king-sized bed with en-suite shower room and a twin serviced by another shower room, provide you with space to rest and freshen up ahead of another adventurous day out.
Outside, some of the best countryside views on the park can be enjoyed from the decking - the perfect spot for your morning coffee.
For dog walkers, you don’t even have to get into the car for the morning walk as the coastal path runs through the holiday park and from the Vendee Lodge you can just head off straight in front of the lodge across the grass to the bay without even having to go through the holiday park.
Park facilities include an indoor pool, a multi-sports court, or get the kids involved in the adventure playground and kids club!
If you don't feel like cooking one evening, take the company to The Boathouse Bar and Restaurant, which has a balcony and outdoor seating with stunning views of the Solent.
In season, there is a fish and chip shop plus a well-stocked convenience store on site.
The Boathouse Bar has wonderful sea views, and a short walk to the sandy/pebble beach mean you will have plenty to keep you occupied when wandering the park, or you can jump in your car and travel to Cowes, which has everything you could want and more including a variety of places to shop, eat, and drink, as well as fascinating museums and a lovely sandy beach.
Visit the Amazon World Zoo to observe 200 animals, Carisbrooke Castle to learn about its history, or Osborne House to tour the former Royal residence.
The rest of the Isle of Wight is easily accessible, from the charming villages such as Godshill with its famous Model village to the rural Isle of Wight, AONB and the Hamstead Heritage Coast.
For Golfers, there are seven golf courses, some of which are set in stunning scenery and for walkers there are forests (largest is Brighstone, Parkhurst Forest just a 5 minute drive), Ventnor and Compton Downs plus beautiful sandy beaches such as: Sandown, Yaverland, Shanklin, Compton beach (great for surfing), with Freshwater Bay, Totland Bay, Colwell Bay and Steephill Cove offering great days out.
Or enjoy the dramatic views from Culver Cliff.
