“Hubby & I loved our stay at Rionnag Lodge; Terry & Janet's attention to detail is second to none!”

Immaculately clean & fresh on arrival, where everything you could possibly need, (and more,) is provided. We recieved an extremely generous welcome hamper, (which was very much appreciated & enjoyed throughout our stay). This place really is 'top notch', & then some! We watched the Northern Lights dance and enjoyed several melting sunsets over the Minch & islands from the balcony! The warming wood burning stove, lifts the spirits on dismal, drizzly days and the outdoor facilities, (hot tub & ...

We recieved an extremely generous welcome hamper, (which was very much appreciated & enjoyed throughout our stay). This place really is 'top notch', & then some! We watched the Northern Lights dance and enjoyed several melting sunsets over the Minch & islands from the balcony! The warming wood burning stove, lifts the spirits on dismal, drizzly days and the outdoor facilities, (hot tub & waterfall shower,) are a welcome treat after a rigorous walk, or long day out sightseeing! Sadly, we didn't have time to try the fresh seafood, (courtesy of host Terry, who is also the local fish guy,) but we did sample the tremendous steak from local butcher - Ken Morrison, (Gairloch); so good, we went back for more the very next day! Gairloch is a wonderful community, well served by the farm shop, butchers, Gale community centre, book shop, (and much more); all of which - we thoroughly recommend. So, to the property itself - a shining star, (Rionnag means star,) in the Wester Ross firmament! Staying in this house is like recieving a week long hug! Giant, wooden bath you can float in! Waterfall shower. Under floor heating. Flumptious towels. Cosy dressing gowns. Tremendously comfy bed in the feature bedroom, (can't comment on other beds, as we only used the one bedroom.) Spacious & luxurious accommodation. Every mod con, (including coffee maker & hand blender, for soup making)! Stunning location. Peace & quiet. Fabulous service all round; 100% recommend . . . only sorry we had to leave a day early due to work commitments . . . we will be back!

“Rionnag Lodge was beautiful to stay in for the week.”

The house had everything we needed and the lovely hamper and Prosecco was very much appreciated. The house was spotlessly clean, lovely furnishings and has magnificent views. We met Terry a few times and he was lovely, very friendly and welcoming. The fish was delicious as well - thank you! The surrounding area is lovely, pebble and sandy beaches around, lovely lighthouse, great little shops in the village a short drive away and everyone we met was very friendly! The Farmshop, Info centre and cafe and the museum were all great. We’d love to go back after Easter another year to take advantage of the kayaking, horse riding and boat trips on offer but we got an amazing week this year with exceptional weather and a very laid back atmosphere in the village. Thanks very much for our holiday, we’d absolutely recommend!

Exceptional standard of accommodation accompanied by amazing quality and comfort throughout. Everything we needed was right there with a to die for view that was extremely hard to leave! The owner Terry was an absolute gem at making sure we were made very welcome and supplied us with the most amazing seafood ever! A truly wonderful experience in a fantastic location and one we would most definitely repeat! Rionnag means star in Gaelic, therefore we easily give our stay 5 Rionnags! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“This is a truly stunning location, a beautiful property with an ever changing view.”

The property is faultless and has been equipped with absolutely everything you could think of. The welcome hamper and Prosecco on arrival was a lovely surprise. The location is extremely quiet, which is exactly what we were looking for. It’s a 5 minute walk to the local pebbly beach but, if you continue for a mile you will find your own stunning sandy cove. A beautiful remote location with stunning panoramic views from the property, the hot tub was a great addition too. Thank you for making our stay so memorable.

“Rionnag Lodge was the best holiday accommodation we have ever stayed in.”

Very clean, well maintained and equipped with everything you could need, (with the exception of a manual can opener!) Beautiful beach within walking distance, amazing views and stunning sunsets whilst relaxing in the hot tub. The magnum size Prosecco and hamper of goodies was a very nice surprize. Shame we didn't know the local fish delivery man lives next door, we would've ordered lots of seafood but didn't find out until reading the Visitor Comment Book on the last day! Thank you for a wonderful week, (with perfect weather too!), we shall definitely recommend Rionnag Lodge and lhhscotland website to friends and family.

“We really enjoyed our stay at Rionnag.”

The house is superb, thoughtfully designed, well furnished and very comfortable, an absolute credit to the owners. The views from the house are stunning and we were treated to a couple of fabulous sunsets. After a days exploring it was wonderful to return to Rionnag and watch the constantly changing view to Skye and Lewis. There are some beautiful and mostly empty beaches within easy reach of here and some lovely walks. We have stayed in a few of LHH’s houses and Rionnag is the best yet. No home is perfect but Rionnag is very close to it!

We had a wonderful stay at Rionnag lodge! A stunning home from home with every need catered for. Every inch of this house has been carefully planned for visitors to enjoy. The attention to detail is first class, from the fluffy towels, Denby dinnerware to the hot tub & robes, it really was superb. Positioned to enjoy the most spectacular views over the Minch to the Hebrides, we watched numerous amazing sunsets during our holiday. We would definitely return. Huge thanks to the owners Terry & Janet, they’ve got a hidden gem of a place here, would highly recommend a stay.

We found ourselves sitting in the lovely sitting room simply admiring the view. Fully equipped kitchen, modern fittings and spacious accommodation that we simply loved. The hot tub was a bonus and the surrounding area beautiful to explore. When the sun came out what a spectacular place to be. Highly recommended and the owners next door very friendly and helpful - even some fresh fish for us to cook for dinner. Definitely would go back.

The property

Head out from Gairloch along the winding and dramatic road towards Rua Reidh Lighthouse and some way before the lighthouse, sitting perched in an elevated spot, is Rionnag Lodge, commanding one of the most spectacular views on the west coast of Scotland. From this superior house, you gaze across the vast expanse of the North Minch towards the Shiant Isles, Lewis, Harris and Skye.

With a house so totally devoted to maximising the view, the changing light and the sheer stunning tranquillity of this area, it would be hard not to be enthralled.

Even if the west throws one of its spectacular storms at you, watching the show from inside this very unique and special lodge will be a most comfortable experience. The interior has been carefully planned and furnished with quality and unusual fittings which will not fail to delight.

Take the handmade wooden bath, made on the Black Isle by woodenbaths.com - a totally fascinating concept and a delight to use.

Or, the luxury drench shower, another added bonus after a day out on the beach or up in the hills. There are fabulous beaches and stunning cliffs, restaurants and cafes (don't miss the Mountain Coffee Cafe with its amazing bookshop), golf course and sailing trips.

Head north to the National Trust Inverewe Garden for a great day out or even further to the port of Ullapool.

There is so much to do but hard to imagine anyone wanting to stray from the luxury, beauty and hot tub at Rionnag Lodge. Bird watchers and wildlife enthusiasts should head up to the Lighthouse and see the wealth of seabirds and otters and star gazers will love the glittering displays and sometimes a show of the Northern Lights. In fact, Rionnag is a Gaelic word relating to shooting stars in some places or, in others, Milky Way.

The thriving Wester Ross community of Gairloch is made up of the villages and hamlets around Loch Gairloch - the village of Gairloch being the largest of the settlements overlooking the Loch. The area provides spectacular scenery, with unforgettable sunsets across the Minch to the Western Isles and the dramatic backdrop of the Torridon Mountains to the south. There is plenty too for the visitor to enjoy; clean sandy beaches, porpoises and seals in the Loch, fishing boats in the harbour, boat trips to the Isle of Skye, a superb golf course, opportunities for fishing and pony trekking, and some of the best and most varied walking in Scotland! Dining options include The Shieling, and you can stock up on essentials at the local McColl’s convenience store.
