Located at family-friendly Twelve Oaks farm in south Devon, Alder Lodge is the ideal property for a small family seeking a coastal adventure.

Head up the stairs of the decking and into the spacious setting of the open-plan living space, with a kitchen, living and dining area combined into one, this room is definitely the hub of the house where you can kick back and relax with the television on as you watch the sun set over the surrounding countryside; the perfect backdrop after a day of exploring the wonders that Devon has to offer the history lover to the thrill seeker.

Down the corridor you will find snug bedrooms, both a double and twin room it’s the ideal family set up.

On warmer summer nights, head onto the decking a light a barbecue before heading into the bustling resort town of Torquay, with a beautiful bay to walk along and a variety of shops and restaurants, Torquay is a fantastic tourist hotspot, it also makes for a great day trip, with its own Babbacombe beach boasting cliffs, theatre, and picturesque gardens, the Torre Abbey Museum with tasty tearooms, and the well-known Bygones, a life-sized Victorian shopping street, you won’t be short of exploration in this vibrant town.

For a more tranquil trip, stay in the local area, surrounded by vast lands and relaxing rivers, it’s an ideal spot to spend a lazy Sunday with a picnic underneath the sun, there’s something for everyone around the area of Kingsteignton, whether you’re visiting for an action-packed trip full of site seeing and enriching yourself in culture, or a laid back holiday to spend quality time with your loved ones, the location of Alder Lodge is sure to care for a variety of needs and interests.

Twelve Oaks Farm

Nestled in South Devon's most breathtaking countryside, on the eastern fringes of Dartmoor National Park, these properties are wonderfully appointed offering you a well-earned break with your loved ones. With many exciting attractions nearby, this working farm covers almost 250 acres for you to roam at your own leisure. Bordered by the River Teign, on the edge of the village of Teigngrace, you have a lovely rural setting, with a fishing lake nearby and an abundance of wildlife, leaving you to enjoy an adventurous family holiday. There are thirteen properties on site. Relax and unwind after a busy day trying out the local activities. Wander along pretty streams or explore rambling woods from your doorstep. On-site is also an outdoor heated swimming pool, which is shared with the neighbouring camp site and can be used from May to September, as well as a shop and children's playground available the year-round. You are spoilt for choice with go-karting, walking, cycling, adventure parks for the kids and so much more close by! Discover a network of bridleways and footpaths among the craggy landscapes of Dartmoor, and while you're there pay a visit to the cascading Becky Falls, an iconic landmark not to be missed. Paignton Zoo is a lovely day out for all ages and Babbacombe Model Village in Torquay boasts a tea room, gift shop and award-winning gardens, as well as a miniature world making you feel like a giant! Newton Abbot is situated in the heart of The English Riviera, with its mild climate and thriving palm trees. The ancient market town now offers plenty of modern shops, both local and well-known high street chains and six leading brand supermarkets. There's also a racecourse where National Hunt racing takes place from spring until autumn, with craft fayres during the winter. Newton Abbot has a unique pub, the tap house and bottle shop, located in the building of what was a traditional working malthouse offering arguably the finest bottled beers in Devon. The seaside towns of Teignmouth, Shaldon and Dawlish are nearby and are fantastic destinations for families. Spend a day on the beach building sand castles and walk the impressive Victorian Pier at Teignmouth. The National Trust houses of Bradley Manor, Coleton Fishacre and Compton Castle and many others are well worth a visit, whilst the highlight of your stay will undoubtedly be the stunning beaches around Torquay and the many hidden coves such as Meadfoot, Oddicombe and further afield the pretty Ness Cove. And of course, the South West Coast Path provides stunning seascapes across the bay, with a popular stretch from Torquay Harbour to Daddyhole Plain, passing through Beacon Cove where Agatha Christie used to swim as a girl. Newton Abbot provides a fabulous base for an English seaside holiday all year round.
